Question 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

  • I think that it was important to gather feedback from the start of the project in order to get a variety of opinions and ideas that can all influence the work that you create.
  • My first survey that I sent out was to conduct some research on the types of newspapers and adverts that local communities look at when reading a newspaper.
  • From this, I found out what type of writing style an audience would prefer and what their preferences are to a advert etc.
  • I was then able to adapt my own work to fit with these recommendations, making the newspaper reader-friendly and in the interest of the local community...

  • For my final outcomes, I also sent out another questionnaire as I feel that this traditional approach can get the best outcomes, rather than using the likes of facebook and online surveys where the people don't know what to look for...

  • From this questionnaire, that I handed out to approximately 8 people, ranging from 17-52 years old and it showed me that I misjudged my own opinions on certain features.
  • On the question of 'Are there any features that you would change about the newspaper front cover?', the majority of the feedback was that they would have liked to of seen more imagery displayed and a little less text. If I was to have conducted this questionnaire before I finished the product, I could have used more info graphics and pictures in the side column, like in my research.
  • Another opinion that was shown was of the including more enticing features, like what is to come in the rest of the newspaper, rather than displaying alot of information straight on the front cover.
  • Other peoples feedback were like 'The colours are too traditional for my taste, I want something more original.' 'I think the newspaper is the best product that has been created' etc.
  • The radio advert caused a little bit of opinion when some thought that it fitted into the brand of 'TYLDESLEY TODAY' well and others thought that it did send the right message across or wasn't up to standard. All of these comments show me just how much peoples opinions can differ when it comes to one certain outcome and product.
  • The importance of the feedback have shown me ways to improve upon my work if I was to do it again and also it gave me confidence in my own work, knowing that I have created a successful outcome and that I should stop being so self critical.
  • I am pleased that the majority of people would read the newspaper if it was published and this shows me that i have successful achieved my goal...
